Thank you for making Troop 339's experiance of traveling from NY to Denver / Colorado Springs & ultimately to and from Philmont Scout Ranch an all around exceptional experiance! Our tour guide for day 1 was Preston & he was knowledgable & friendly. Would highly recommend Blue Sky Adventures to any scout group traveling to a high adventure camp!! Thank You! We placed our son on an airplane in Austin and he experienced zero problems connecting with Blue Sky and travelling to Philmont Scout Ranch. This was easy and we are thankful for the shuttle service.

Great communication prior to arrival and smooth booking process. Light-rail was down so we had to use the bus transportation. Definitely added travel time to getting to Blue Sky location. We went to Mall of America and it also too longer to get there and back due to this. We had lots of fun at Mall of America. Alyssa was our BSA staff assigned to us and helping navigate outside Blue Sky. She met us at the Airport due to the light rail not working. She was very friendly and helpful in navigating. At the Blue Sky location, the Staff at Blue Sky seemed less than experience other than Alyssa. Staff was friendly. There was another Boy Scout troop arriving later in the evening. They had not booked the same experience as us. Programs were delayed/affected since we did not arrive at the same time or book the same experience. There seemed to be concerns regarding food and refrigeration. It came up that some of the refrigerators were not keeping cold, but yet non of the staff present had checked prior to our arrival if everything was in working order or asked anyone else. Pizza was delivered for dinner. Breakfast consisted of Cereal, Milk, Juice, Pop-Tarts, Nutra-grain bars, apples, and coffee. We were told any food labeled blue sky was available to us. Unaware that Blue Sky staff would be eating off the same Pizza that was ordered for our troop. It's also not necessary for all 3 staff members to serve the pizza to our troop. This actually took more time. The Information provided to me regarding our Transfer to Northern Tier in Antikokan was incorrect. We were late arriving to Northern Tier. The driver said don't worry, they are not that strict. We were quoted arrival time of 2pm and did not arrive until 3:30pm. The travel time was approximately 2 hours longer than provided to me as well. The information was more for the Ely location even though the name of the top of the information was changed to Antikokan. I don't like to be late, especially if I am paying for a transport service to get me somewhere at a specified time. It should be planned better. Activities were nice to have. My youth and adults enjoyed the available activities. There was a rock climbing wall, Archery, GaGa Ball, Board games/cards, and a projection screen for Movies. The staff turned on a movie then left for the evening. It took us a little time to figure out how to control the volume and turn it off at night. We also had to navigate all the light switches to turn off at lights out. Staff did not walk us through which to turn off. There are 10-20 switches on the wall. Thank you for the water bottle, sticker, and neck gator for each participant. Would definitely recommend Blue sky, but would also pass along the few things in our experience that could have been better.

Hello, This is our second response to the review. The first response covered the arrival day and overnight. The bus ride to Northern Tier was very comfortable. We had a planned stop at Gordy's where everyone enjoyed Lunch. Gordy's was a winner. BSA provided lunch by giving money that amounted to $15 per person in cash. We appreciate that the money was organized in $15 increments, which made it easy to parcel out to the scouts. Our driver was Tam, and she was very nice and open to stop for bathroom breaks (the outbound bus did not have a bathroom on board). On the return Brian was our driver and was very friendly. He also stopped at Gordy's as requested by our Troop. So we ended up with Gordy's twice. Since we depart Northern Tier right after breakfast and do not get to the airport until after one, BSA should consider adding lunch to the adventure.
